That Jeep Wrangler you purchase is projected to maintain 45.2 percent of
its original purchase price in five years, according to Kelley Blue
Book's kbb.com.
In its Best Resale Value Awards for the 2011 model-year, the 2011
Jeep Wrangler ranked among the top 10 models for best resale value
? coming in at #2 (to Honda's CR-V).
"The Jeep Wrangler appears on our list year after year as a
result of strong auction values that these vehicles bring when
sold. It's a solid performer that benefits from good demand,"
said Eric Ibara, director of residual consulting, Kelley Blue
Book.
The estimated resale value for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, which is in
the Compact Utility Vehicle category, is an improvement over last
year, when Kelley Blue Book estimated that the 2010 Jeep Wrangler
would maintain 41.8 percent of its purchase price after five
years.
According to the editors of Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com,
"One of the most iconic, uniquely American shapes in the
automotive world belongs to the Jeep Wrangler. Whether driving
top-down through suburbia or putting its legendary off-road
abilities to use on the Rubicon trail, the Jeep Wrangler is the
quintessential vehicle for freedom-loving explorers."
The Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards recognize current and
forthcoming vehicles for their projected retained value five years
from now. Since depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a
car-buyer's primary expense during ownership, these awards, like
all of kbb.com's new- and used-vehicle information, are
designed to help consumers make more informed car-buying
decisions.

The company's resale value projections are based on current
vehicle data, sales data, market conditions for each vehicle,
competition within vehicle segments, expectations of the future
economy and the combined experience of Kelley Blue Book's
residual analysts. Residual values reflect projected future auction
values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the
end of a five-year lease or ownership period. Kelley Blue Book's
Residual Value Guide has been published since 1982, and the company
established its annual Best Resale Value Awards in 2003.
